Bark, Berries & Leaves by Steve Lovell

On Tuesday 7th May we were pleased to welcome back Steve Lovell who gave a very interesting talk about the structure and form of various bark, berries and leaves.

Steve is qualified in Garden Design and Landscaping. Currently along with talks and presentations he holds courses and workshops for Green Spaces www.stevelovellgreenspaces.co.uk

It is not always just about the flowers on plants, some of which are fairly transient, but important to have an appreciation of the form structure and colour that is provided throughout the seasons.

We were shown some beautiful barks including English Oak and various peeling birch. There were many textured and colourful plants including Acers, bamboo and dogwood providing stunning stem and leaf colours. Yews and Mountain Ash like many other trees have berries which are both attractive and provide much needed food for wildlife. Steve has an interest in wildlife and photography and below are a few photos of the slides provided by himself.

Thank you very much to Steve for his inspiring presentation. For further information Steve can be contacted at email stephenlovell58@btinternet.com

At the end of the evening we held our annual Tulip Competition. Our Congratulations go to Bob Gwynn who won first prize with his trio of tulips.
