Burbage Gardening Club 73rd Annual Show
On Saturday 17th August 2019 we held our 73rd annual open show and dahlia championship. It was quite spectacular with such a variety of entries from vegetables, dahlias, cakes, jams, eggs, photography, a craft section and a fabulous children’s class to name but a few. There was something for everyone and the club had entries ranging from age 2 up to our most senior first prize winner who was 90 years of age.
All proceeds taken will go to our charity this year which is The First Responders who work in the local area to reach very ill people before ambulances arrive at the scene. They are invaluable and save lives on the spot.

The show opened to the public at 4.30 pm after the judges had assessed all the entries.
There were many prizes to be awarded, and it was good to see so many entries in the Children’s section.
Prizes were given out by Left to right. Bob Gwynn – Show Manager, Linda Barratt – Chairperson, and Mitch Irving – from the Hinckley Times.
Thank you to everyone who took the time and effort to enter, whether or not you obtained a prize this year.
There were so many prize winners it is impossible to name everyone but here are just a few that won a first.

The Committee wish to give a huge Thank You to Bob Gwynn our Show Manager, and to the Show Committee all who have worked tremendously throughout the year to ensure such a great success on the show day. Many thanks also to Mitch Irving for presenting the prizes, and to all the sponsors and volunteers. The Committee extend their thanks to all who helped serving teas and cakes, baking, serving drinks in general, administering the raffle and for helping to set up the show, those who worked on the day itself and to those who helped to take everything down.
Here are just a few photos of some of the entries:
