PHOTO COMPETITION FOR BGC MEMBERS

In a scheme devised by Father Andrew, approximately 130 roses have been planted at the front of St Catherine’s Church. Parish councilor Paul Williams is assisting Father Andrew by compiling a booklet of the rose varieties. They would like some photos of the roses to include as full-page images in the booklet. Paul initially asked if this was something BGC could include in the annual show. The show and general committees have discussed this and thought it would be better to run a competition for our members where the best photo(s) would be used for this purpose. We would very much like to be involved with this project to show our support to the community and especially as we ourselves receive very generous support from Burbage Parish Council.

So; the plan is for you to take photographs of the roses when they are in bloom, shown in their setting against the Church, and for these to be judged at either our September or October social meeting. Photos would need to be identifiable against the name or number of the rose variety (which are all labeled) and show ingenuity in capturing the setting. BGC would also offer a prize for the best member’s photo.

Burbage Heritage Group members may also be asked to run their own competition for the same purpose.
