AGM Presentation
At the AGM of the Burbage Gardening Club a presentation was made to show the items that the club has purchased with a grant of £958 from Hinckley &Bosworth Borough Council’s Community Initiative Fund. In attendance were Councillor Martin Cartwright from HBBC who is responsible for the fund, and Councillor Richard Flemming who supported the application by the club in 2022. Members were able to see a bank card reader for use at the club’s store and other events, a laptop and digital projector for use at social events, and 12 staging tables for use at the annual show. Martin said that seeing the use that the fund award does for local communities was one of the happiest parts of his job. He is always impressed with the diversity of requests and enjoys seeing the benefits on physical and mental health, as well as climate impact and reduction across the borough. Martin congratulated the club and looks forward to hearing how the items help the club engage with members and the local community.
A big thank you was given, along with a bunch of flowers presented by Linda Barrett, to Denise Kovarovic for her dedicated work for the club over the years as she stands down from membership secretary and newsletter editor.
At the end of the meeting the BGC Annual Daffodil Competition was held with members voting on their favourite blooms presented on the evening. There was a beautiful array of blooms and the eventual winner this year was Dave Baggot, who received the trophy from Linda Barrett.
